Gershwin at Symphony PlaceGershwin Garners Three Emmy® Nominations — Nashville, Tenn. (December 10, 2009) Gershwin at One Symphony Place, the nationally broadcast presentation of the Nashville Symphony Orchestra’s September 6, 2008 All-Gershwin Opening Gala, has received three MidSouth Emmy® Award nominations, including "Best Entertainment Program", "Best Director" and "Best Audio," for the 24th Annual MidSouth Emmy® Awards on January 30, 2010. The Gershwin telecast, directed by Robert Swope, was broadcast live on PBS stations statewide and distributed nationally by Nashville Public Television.

Produced by Sunrise Entertainment and the Nashville Symphony in High Definition and Digital television, Gershwin utilized 20 High Definition cameras and was telecast in 5.1 Surround Sound. The performance was led by newly minted Nashville Symphony Music Director Giancarlo Guerrero and included An American in Paris and "Cuban Overture" as well as "Concerto for Piano in F" and Rhapsody in Blue, both of which featured pianist and renowned Gershwin interpreter Kevin Cole.

"I believe George Gershwin himself would have been enormously proud of both the amazing performances that night and the entire team’s efforts to broadcast this wonderful evening," said Robert Swope, President of Sunrise Entertainment and Producer/Director of the program. Swope, who is nominated for "Best Director" and "Best Audio" (along with Audio Co-Producer Michael Davis), shares "Best Entertainment Program" honors with Susan Bowman, Christopher Toyne and Alan Valentine, President and CEO of the Nashville Symphony. "The Nashville Symphony is proud to have taken part in such a masterfully executed broadcast of a memorable night of music-making," said Valentine.

(January 30, 2008) One Symphony Place: A World Premiere Live from Music City  received a prestigious Emmy® Award at the 22nd Annual Midsouth Emmy Awards on January 26, 2008 at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center in Nashville.  The award was presented in the category of “Live Special Event” for the opening gala broadcast of Schermerhorn Symphony Center—the Nashville Symphony’s new concert hall—which took place on September 9, 2006.
