Robert Swope Shares Top Gospel Music Awards

Producer/Director Robert Swope collected top gospel music honors for the High Definition CD/DVD production entitled Donald Lawrence Presents The Tri-City Singers: Finalé this past Saturday night.  The critically-acclaimed music and television executive accepted awards for Music Video of the Year and Special Event CD of the Year at the 22nd Annual Stellar Awards for the CD/DVD project which received a total of 9 Stellar nominations and won 8 including Artist of the Year, Choir of the Year, Contemporary CD of the Year, Producer of the Year, Packaging/Art Design, and Contemporary Choir of the Year.  The 22nd Annual Stellar Awards was held in Music City on Saturday, Jan. 13, 2007 at the Grand Ole Opry House.  Swope is also nominated in the 49th Annual Grammy Awards category of Best Gospel Album for Donald Lawrence Presents The Tri-City Singers: Finalé.  The album is up for 3 overall nominations including Best Gospel Song and Best Gospel Performance.  The Grammy Awards will be held on Sunday, Feb. 11, 2007, in Los Angeles at the Staples Center.

Swope, President/CEO of Sunrise Entertainment, has produced hundreds of High Definition DVD’s, albums, and television specials that have been marketed across the globe and is noted for directing and producing projects for various gospel icons including Smokie Norful, Karen Clark Sheard, Walter Hawkins, The Mighty Clouds of Joy, and The Blind Boys of Alabama.  Swope is considered a pioneer in High Definition, having filmed in the format for over 12 years now. Additionally, he assures perfect audio quality by insisting every release carry 5.1 Surround Sound audio tracks, which he personally mixes.

Having recently completed One Symphony Place: a World Premiere Live from Music City, the live HDSR telecast from the Gala Opening of the Schermerhorn Symphony Center in Nashville, which re-airs in High Definition on PBS nationally January 28, 2007, Swope is currently working on several new projects including an international release with famed Navaho musician Robert Mirabal with a tentative broadcast late in 2007.
